Quirky things that caught Grumpy’s eye

Trabant versatility

Whilst the precision minded West German motor industry turned out reliable and possibly even stylish cars by the million for their citizens, their counterparts east of the border had to make and do with such cars as the famed Trabant, made by the now defunct VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. It was the personification of the communist ideal. Grumpy came across a Trabant on his travels which was clearly being used by someone to move home (a student?)

…. and the famed badge

Trabant

The sticker reads

Sticker

Grumpy has no idea what this means, but the cartoon probably reflects the sentiment.

When is a rock not a rock ?

Holiday makers at this resort in the Seychelles  are used to seeing boulders of this type scattered round the islands.

Seychelles rock

However, this particular one turned out to be a utility room …

Back of rock

Nervous banking

What was rather worrying about cashing a cheque in this branch of Barclay’s bank was the apparent need for a sign to tell customers that guns were banned inside.  Just how many customers have they had who come in with a Walther PPK, Grumpy mused ?

(Unless of course James Bond was shacked up with some lovely somewhere locally…)

No guns ???

I need to buy a ticket …

… for the last train home and the booking office is shut.

What was he thinking ...

Ok, so now what ?

What on earth was the guy who posted the later of these two notices thinking? I thought only the TSA employed folk of this capability.
